Organic farming may be considered as one of the approaches of sustainable farming (but not the only one). The term “Organic” is reserved for products that meet certain specifications.
Several internationally recognized labels have been classified as organic, including the AB Label in France. In 2007, the percentage of the usable agricultural area in France dedicated to organic farming was 2%.
Viticulture can be adapted relatively easily to the production requirements of organic farming, in particular in the South of France, where the vines are not so vulnerable to threats from pests and disease.
