All activities generate greenhouse gases (CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, etc.). In large quantities, these gases contribute to climate change. Environmentally responsible companies assess their emissions with a view to reducing them. The carbon footprint is also interesting for analyzing a company's energy dependency. The French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) has developed a method for quantifying these emissions, which is known as the Bilan CarboneTM.
