History

In late 2006, eleven wine-producing cooperatives joined ranks in order to embark on a Sustainable Development initiative, in accordance with national standard SD21000 (Corporate Social Responsibility).

The collective approach allowed the companies to:

  • Acquire new skills
  • Share practices
  • Develop measuring and evaluation tools

The substantial scope of the project involved:

  • 640 employees
  • 500 collaborating vineyards

The original approach involved:

  • Taking into account all environmental challenges
  • Respecting the social rights of employees
  • A high level of financial performance in order to produce the highest possible number of quality products

The use of the trademark GROWERS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT is a measure of the success of the companies. By reaching sufficient levels of financial, social and environmental performance they are entitled to use the trademark on the products they market, thereby sending out a clear message.

Until 2010, this project will be managed by the ICV group. Follow this link to find out more about ICV: www.icv.fr.
